"I HATE this..." and I truly did

Charlotte Fowles breath work on diving retreat in indonesia

I wanted to share this one tip that helps anyone with pretty much anything. It is the one daily practice that is my only non-negotiable.

Here is the story of how it came to be:

“I hate this breathwork meditation”

That was me, to my coach, a few years ago.

The tool had been given to me - a 30 minute breathwork-based meditation - and I was to try to do it every day for 40 days.

It was REALLY hard - it’s a very powerful practice and I saw it as such a chore.

I failed. Again and again and again.

Again and again I’d have to start again from day 1 as I’d forget.

It took me 6 months to get to 40 consecutive days, and I couldn’t wait until I’d ‘finished’ it and could then I stop! Except…I didn’t stop.

The first day I didn’t do it, I missed it. I noticed SUCH a massive difference.

Although I had hated it to start with, it was SO powerful and I had got incredible benefits from it: clarity; off the scale creative ideas; focus; release of feelings and tension; processing …there was so much that I gained.

I decided then that this will be my ONE non-negotiable every single day from now on. For the rest of my life.

And I’ve mostly kept to that.

It doesn’t always look the same, but some form of meditation is now my ONLY daily practice.

I’m still ‘bad’ at it, compared to some, I guess. But I do it. And I always will.

And I’m the person who used to roll their eyes at people who meditated!

So, when people ask me for tools, tips etc, THIS is the number one.

If you'd like more or pointers on where to find out more about breathwork, meditation or specific things that I have found useful, please get in touch.

And I'll keep you posted on my recent adventures as much as I can.
